Family Visit!

So hubby's parents are coming to visit this weekend.  It is his dad's first visit since we moved here three summers ago and his mom's second visit.  We're excited to spend some good time with them and go sight-seeing in the city and in DC.  So no DIY this weekend, but you sure as heck better believe I'll be doing it next weekend!

Come on get happy!

So things have been a little rough and tumbly around here lately...what with being financially stable, looking to the future (house, kids, career-readiness, life) and just plain being happy.  I read another blog post this morning and was inspired.  It may be easier to look to the bad things in life, but it is far more enjoyable to seek out the happy.  So that's what I gotta do!
I am happy to be married to a wonderful man that loves me for me.
I am happy to be alive and well.
I am happy to be the mommy to a sweet beagle.
I am happy I have a job that keeps food on my table and a roof over my head.
I am happy to have people that care about me in my life.
I am happy to have a family that is my rock.
I am happy to live in a free world.
I am happy to have a job that I truly love to go to every day.
I am happy that my husband makes me laugh and smile, literally, every day.

What are you happy about?

Halloween "Boo"nanza!

So I DIY-ed some Halloween decor and put it up a few weeks ago...just now getting to pictures!

What do you think?!

Just threw some ribbon around those candles.
Put some Halloween flair on my little shelves.

Found this little glitter tree in the dollar section at Target...jazzed it up a bit with some scrapbook paper ornaments.

 Love my "Eek" frames!
Okay, this is more fall than Halloween.  I am in love with my weaved burlap runner.  So easy to do.  Look for a tutorial later!

Spray painted pumpkins with some metallic gold stems.

Happy Halloween, ya'll!

DIY-ing Fool!

So I got all my craft/DIY supplies back last weekend.  And I have been at it like crazy! I made so much! I am a little bit obsessed in love with burlap, so most, if not all, of my projects have burlap in them.  I revamped our bulletin board...it was a nasty purple edge that dear hubby has had since forever.  Now it is awesome!

I made a burlap wrapped candle that I love!

Two Prego jars needed some lovin' so I wrapped them in burlap and jute (these will be displayed probably after Christmas with some votives inside)

I was throwing out hubby's old desk and came across a nice piece of MDF that I used to create this number! I cut out the stencil with my regular printer (went a little old school since I refuse to pay bagoodles of money on a cricut or silhouette).  I got the bent spoons from another decor item in the house that didn't go with our new decor style.  So I repurposed them!

I made these little birdie plaques from...wait for it...cardboard and burlap! I made the little fabric rosettes from fabric and jute I had just lying around from the wedding.

Our awesome initial frame is just so darn cute! Simple and free! Just the way I like it!

And this adorable little 12x12 pillow.  Not sure how adorable it actually is...a little awkward?

Look for some more awesome projects soon! (I really want to try a gallery wall; just gotta pick out the wall) I am on a roll!

Wedding Weekend in the Burgh!

This weekend, Mr. F and I will be headed to the Burgh for a family wedding.  His cousin is getting married and it will be the first big family function we attend as a married couple.  I'm making it kind of a big deal as I am so excited for it!! Also, I am getting all my craft supplies this weekend and bringing home another group of wedding gifts.  Hopefully we'll be able to bring home everything that is left.  So excited to use some of it! (Just don't know where I will put it!)

Well, have a great weekend and as always,
Happy Nesting!
