Christmas at the Fensch's

This marks our third Christmas at our little apartment here in Baltimore, our first as a married couple.  Here are some pictures of our decor this Christmas (taken by hubb, of course!).

Our pretty little tree

One of my end table vignettes...I love the framed bulbs.

The other end table vignette...my fave is the jar on the right with snow and ornaments.

Cute bulbs and candle display on a stool next to the tree

Our Christmas Card display (lights with twisty ties attaching the cards to the light string)

My Christmas "canvases" made from pizza boxes

And that was Christmas at the Fensch's! Unfortunately, we go home to the Burgh for Christmas so we don't get to open gifts under this tree, but it is nice to enjoy a Christmas special by the light of the tree and Christmas candles!

Thanksgiving at our house...

We had a lot to be thankful for this year...getting married with our wonderful friends and family, joining two families together, sharing a new life, etc.

My brothers kept with tradition this year and joined us in Baltimore for our annual Thanksgiving feast.  I made my second turkey ever and it was perfect (again!)!  The pumpkin pie was great!

Here are some snapshots hubby took of a yummy and thankful day!

My totally awesome tablescape for Turkey Day!

The cute fall centerpiece with my white pumpkin and gourds.

Everyone liked their personalized place cards.  Stored away for next year unless I come up with something else that's way cuter! ;)
All of us with our yummy meals!

Sorry...

I've been away for awhile...My husband's grandfather passed away last week and we headed home for the funeral.  Things have been a little crazy since we got back home.  I'm hoping to put up a post from Thanksgiving and my Christmas decor stuff this week.

Thanks for your patience and prayers.

Please pray...

My husband's grandfather is in a coma with possible brain damage due to lack of oxygen to the brain after a bad fall.  Please keep him and his family in your prayers.  Thanks.

Let's give it up for Thanksgiving!!!

Maybe it's because my birthday is literally always right around/on Thanksgiving, but we gotta do something about this early Christmas crap!  I mean, mid-October, I saw decorations for sale and stores already had winter-esque decor up.  Save some room for the Turkey!!!  I have not even started any Christmas decor, looked at Christmas decor, etc, yet just so I can save those last few minutes of Thanksgiving/Fall.  Now don't get me wrong, Black Friday afternoon is my time to Christmas it up!  The tree goes up, the fall comes down, and I start making stuff for Christmas/winter decor!  But until then, it is Thanksgiving in this house!!!!  (Oh and Happy Birthday to me on Black Friday this year!)
(My favorite Thanksgiving image of all time!)

We've been busy 'round these parts!

Last weekend was pretty good! We visited our nation's capital with hubby's parents. It was freezing cold and snowy, but we spent most of our time in the museums, so it wasn't too bad.

The week went well at work and I used my free time at home to get some crafting done. Sorry no pics right now, but I'll put up a post later this week.

For now, I'll go enjoy my Pittsburgh Steelers!

Family Visit!

So hubby's parents are coming to visit this weekend.  It is his dad's first visit since we moved here three summers ago and his mom's second visit.  We're excited to spend some good time with them and go sight-seeing in the city and in DC.  So no DIY this weekend, but you sure as heck better believe I'll be doing it next weekend!

Come on get happy!

So things have been a little rough and tumbly around here lately...what with being financially stable, looking to the future (house, kids, career-readiness, life) and just plain being happy.  I read another blog post this morning and was inspired.  It may be easier to look to the bad things in life, but it is far more enjoyable to seek out the happy.  So that's what I gotta do!
I am happy to be married to a wonderful man that loves me for me.
I am happy to be alive and well.
I am happy to be the mommy to a sweet beagle.
I am happy I have a job that keeps food on my table and a roof over my head.
I am happy to have people that care about me in my life.
I am happy to have a family that is my rock.
I am happy to live in a free world.
I am happy to have a job that I truly love to go to every day.
I am happy that my husband makes me laugh and smile, literally, every day.

What are you happy about?

Halloween "Boo"nanza!

So I DIY-ed some Halloween decor and put it up a few weeks ago...just now getting to pictures!

What do you think?!

Just threw some ribbon around those candles.
Put some Halloween flair on my little shelves.

Found this little glitter tree in the dollar section at Target...jazzed it up a bit with some scrapbook paper ornaments.

 Love my "Eek" frames!
Okay, this is more fall than Halloween.  I am in love with my weaved burlap runner.  So easy to do.  Look for a tutorial later!

Spray painted pumpkins with some metallic gold stems.

Happy Halloween, ya'll!

DIY-ing Fool!

So I got all my craft/DIY supplies back last weekend.  And I have been at it like crazy! I made so much! I am a little bit obsessed in love with burlap, so most, if not all, of my projects have burlap in them.  I revamped our bulletin board...it was a nasty purple edge that dear hubby has had since forever.  Now it is awesome!

I made a burlap wrapped candle that I love!

Two Prego jars needed some lovin' so I wrapped them in burlap and jute (these will be displayed probably after Christmas with some votives inside)

I was throwing out hubby's old desk and came across a nice piece of MDF that I used to create this number! I cut out the stencil with my regular printer (went a little old school since I refuse to pay bagoodles of money on a cricut or silhouette).  I got the bent spoons from another decor item in the house that didn't go with our new decor style.  So I repurposed them!

I made these little birdie plaques from...wait for it...cardboard and burlap! I made the little fabric rosettes from fabric and jute I had just lying around from the wedding.

Our awesome initial frame is just so darn cute! Simple and free! Just the way I like it!

And this adorable little 12x12 pillow.  Not sure how adorable it actually is...a little awkward?

Look for some more awesome projects soon! (I really want to try a gallery wall; just gotta pick out the wall) I am on a roll!

Happy Nesting!
